"I chose dentistry as my profession because I found it to be the best way I could use my skills as a dentist to give back to my community. I love art, science and people and dentistry is a perfect mix of all three in which I can help restore and maintain the oral health of people of all ages. Being able to help someone smile again is the most rewarding experience and I’m so honored to play a role in helping people feel better about themselves and improve their quality of life." Dr. Hoda Bassiri
Dr. Hoda Bassiri’s interest in developing her skills after attending the prestigious UNC School of Dentistry, lead her to complete a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center. The residency proved to be vital in her understanding of, and ability to surgically place and restore, dental implants, as well as treat complex cases on medically compromised patients. Dr. Hoda Bassiri has continued to hone her skills as a general and cosmetic dentist by being an active member of American Dental Society, NC Dental Society, and Raleigh-Wake County Dental Society, and through continuing education in orthodontics, root canals, oral surgery, periodontal treatment, prosthodontics and sleep medicine.
Her drive for continued education and advanced technology has allowed her to grow professionally in order to treat her patient's overall health. Oral Sleep Appliance is truly a life changing service offered to her patients who deserve to live a better life.
For patients with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, dental appliances or oral mandibular advancement devices that prevent the tongue from blocking the throat and/or advance the lower jaw forward can be made. These devices help keep the airway open during sleep. A sleep specialist and Dr. Hoda Bassiri with expertise in oral appliances for this purpose can jointly determine if this treatment is best for you.
Oral appliance therapy:
Can improve symptoms of OSA, including daytime sleepiness, moodiness, concentration issues and reduce or eliminate snoring.
Offers another option for people who cannot tolerate CPAP
Is easier to take along when traveling
Works without electricity
Is quiet
Snoring is a very common problem and frequently dismissed simply as harmless yet annoying. Not only does it affect the sleep of the person snoring, it also affects the bed partner. Did you know that snoring could be a sign of something more? Under diagnosed "Obstructive Sleep Apnea" (OSA) is a very dangerous condition.
Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder that occurs when a person's breathing is interrupted during sleep. People with untreated sleep apnea stop breathing many times during sleep, sometimes hundreds of times during the night.
If you or a loved one snore loudly at night, please have a sleep study done to rule out this potentially fatal condition. Please contact us to help guide you. Ready to become a patient?
